I have been looking for a good quality mechanical brake lever/shifter that worked like the old Shimano units. I had been using SRAM Apex 1x11 mechanical components but I always disliked the feel and operation of SRAM Double-Tap shifting. The S-Ride ST-R500 shifters are really the best I have used. The lever design fits my hands nicely - brake lever feel is solid and strong - shifting is light and fast. I have paired these with the S-Ride RD-GR580 rear derailleur, Deore 11-46 cassette, and Shimano Link-Glide chain.
